Water Transmission Line Expansion Project

We are happy to announce that we have made tremendous progress in our growth plan. With the completion of Phase I, now phase II is in it's final stages of completion. The water transmission lines along Hwy 129 from 6 Mile Rd. to 4 Mile Rd., Garland Rd., Brewer Rd. and Brewer Cove are now in service.

Crown Point is still under construction with the completion predicted at the end of November. These residents will now have the option of becoming utility customers in 2008.

The general timeline of construction for the remainder of Phase II and planning for Phase III of this this six-year/six-phase, $11 million project is as follows:

  • January 2008 - SBCUD awarded the construction contract for Phase II to Merkel Brothers Construction.
  • February 2008 - The selected contractor began construction of the new Water Transmission lines starting at Four Mile Road through Six Mile Road.
  • April 2008 – SBCUD awarded Fulghum MacIndoe & Associates with the engineering design contract for Phase III, (Six Mile Road to Baumgartner Road and 5,900 ft. 16-inch water line along Cloverhill Road from Hopewell to Morganton Road.
  • December 2008- Phase II shall be complete.
  • January 2009 - SBCUD will begin purchasing necessary property easements from residents along route. (Pending)
  • July 2009 – Construction bid will be taken for the construction contract of Phase III. (Pending)
  • September 2009 - Construction for Phase III will begin. (Pending)
